+ + + The Gobble Gobble Moooooo Tractor Book
Author: Jez Alborough
Reading level: Ages 4-8
Hardcover: 32 pages
Publisher: Kane/Miller Book Publishers (June 15, 2010)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 1935279661
ISBN-13: 978-1935279662
Book description: While Farmer Dougal sleeps, Sheep and his friends board the tractor and take turns making engine sounds. But what if their loud honks, moos and squeaks wake the farmer!?
Book review: Giggle away with this one! Imagine right along with the animals as they play with the farmer’s tractor and have fun making all the different animal noises. A nice twist on the usual ‘animal sounds’ books. I got a real kick out of the animals begging to please play the game again with their little cheesy grins. This book is both fun and funny.

Book description: Cassandra loves to smile. Unfortuately Cassandra also loves to eat candy, but doesn’t love to brush her teeth. One day, Cassandra discovers ugly brown spots on her teeth. No matter how much she brushes, the ugly spots will not go away. Her mother tells her she has to go to the dentist to have her teeth cleaned and x-rayed. However Cassandra is afraid to go to the dentist — what will the dentist do?
Book review: What a great introduction to the dentist! Cassandra Gets Her Smile Back takes children step by step through the process at the dentist’s without speaking down to them while calming their fears and empowering them with information. This will really help kids learn the importance of keeping their teeth clean as well as what role the dentist plays. Definitely a book you’ll want in your library at home.

+ + + + + A Most Vivid Day!
Author: Justin Young
Reading level: Ages 4-8
Hardcover: 40 pages
Publisher: Dream Character, Inc. (May 1, 2010)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0978541812
ISBN-13: 978-0978541811
Book description: Living in a world of darkness and knowing only shades of black and gray, Tommy the bat stays up a bit too late one day and is greeted by the sunrise—astonishing him with a world of beautiful, vivid colors. He embarks on a quest to find color of his own, having to overcome initially distrustful animals, looming storm clouds filled with rain, and an absent-minded sun in order to keep the world awash in magnificent hues. Tommy’s tale, full of imagination and color, provides a new and fascinating perspective on the world people see every day.
Book review: Oh, goodness. If you don’t fall in love with this story, then your imagination is severely anemic! Beautiful watercolors illustrate this gem, magically evoking the purest of imagination. This is the kind of book that makes a child fall in love with reading. Justin Young captures fantasy and creatively paints the world with word and brush just as a child might imagine it. I absolutely LOVED the sun and moon characters and the whole concept of them painting the world in vivid color (the sun) and dreary shades of black and gray (the moon). Can’t say enough about this book–BUY IT, BORROW IT–just get your hands on a copy!!

Book review: No, this is not a story about a little kitten stuck in a tree. This is about a little boy who patiently earns the trust of a kitten. A WONDERFUL surprise! Kids will get the message and readily imitate little David and all you have to do is let them enjoy the story. Great, great, great.
